Reader Space: A Handmade Nursery

Today's space makes my cheeks hurt.  I have been smiling since I first saw it.  It is a true story of a room built over time and how creating things on your own not only saves you major moola, but also gives special meaning to the space.

Morgan runs a DIY blog in which she shares her adventures in renovating, decorating and handmade projects.  She recently submitted a project to me in which she embellished a hamper in the nursery she was working on for her sweet little lady.  I took a look at the project and instantly got sucked into the blog and the entire nursery process.  I noticed her attention to details, and the ways that she handmade so many items for the space, that I begged her to let me feature the whole room instead.  Lucky for us, she said, "Yes!"

Morgan began working on the nursery when she was 7 months pregnant, creating a happy place that was gender neutral since they were waiting to find out the gender until the little bambina was born.  Seven months later, she was still putting the finishing touches on the space, showing that the room was built with love and took time to get to a completed state.

But lets get down to the nitty gritty details.  What all did she create by hand to make this space so fantastic?

Let's start with the amazing tree shelves!

Her husband's Aunt and mother painted the graphics on the wall, and they enhanced the tree branches by building in custom shelving!  Seriously, how sweet is that?!

Almost every single fabric feature you see within the room, was sewn.  Yep, the crib bedding...

The curtain panels and the charming mobile....

Even the basket liners for her changing table...

And the bin liners in the shelving unit {which she also took the time to line with beautiful fabric!}

I love that she had all of the basket liners sewn, allowing her to select fabric that worked within the space she was designing.

When it came time to do the re-cover the glider, she was savvy and took the fabric to her local dry cleaner, which saved her oodles of time and money!  Such a great tip!

I love that she added a small play table to the corner of the room.  It will serve as the perfect place to do some arts and crafts or to play with toys!  Check out those table legs!

This room is a great example of patience and love.  All of the handmade elements will be forever be cherished and give the room a warm and cozy feeling.

A huge hug to Morgan for sharing her beautiful space with us and for setting such a great DIY example!

Let's chat about your most cherished handmade goodies.  What is one thing that you have made, or someone made for you, that has a special place in your own home {and heart}?
